Assalamu'alaykum Warohmatullahi Wabarokatuh,

Welcome to the Faculty of Law, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) a place for law education with Shariah insight. The law education concept with Shariah insight is both an excellent and unique aspect created by the Faculty of Law of UMY. The graduates of the Faculty of Law are expected not only to master the entire positive law, but also comprehend all aspects of law in accordance with a Shariah perspective.

In the existing curriculum of the Faculty of Law, there are 12 subjects based on a Shariah perspective. Among them are: Introduction to Figh and Ushul Fiqh, the Tafsir of Law Verse and Hadits, Islamic Criminal Law (Fiqh Jinayah), Islamic banking law & takaful, and others. Although the many subjects with the basis of Shariah are included, it will not cause the students’ study period to be lengthened, because the total study load in the Faculty of Law UMY based on the existing curriculum are only 145 credits (including 10 credits for short course / legal skills). Therefore, if the study runs well, in less than 4 (four) years, the students will be able to earn the Law degree and be ready to compete in finding jobs. Moreover, we are optimistic that those taking the International Program (IP), with a sufficient English language competence and supported by the international experience they possess, will have a high competitiveness.

On behalf of all the civitas academica  of the UMY Faculty of Law, we would like to invite you to come to our campus to support the establishment of the vision and mission of our leading higher education law institution, which harmonizes positive law with Shariah principles, and prepares a professional work force for Law and Shariah institutions.   Introduce your children to our Faculty so as to prepare themselves to be future scholars of law.

Warmest Regards,

H. M. Endrio Susila, S.H., MCL.
