The integration paradigm of Islamic values and science is applied in developing the curriculum, teaching/learning process, as well as providing student guidance, so that the graduates of the Faculty of Law will possess comprehensive sientific insight.

the excellence of curriculum

The curriculum of the Law Science study program is designed in such a way as to produce graduates with a good comprehension of both common and Shariah laws, as well possessing various excellent competencies. The curriculum is updated regularly in a hope that it can face the challenge of legal world.

the excellence of teaching/learning methods

The teaching/learning methods refer to the paradigm of student cantered learning (SCL) which are fully supported by representative education facilities. In an effort to improve the teaching learning quality, an introduction to the problem based learning method (PBL) has been commenced.

the excellence of students guidance

During studying at the UMY Faculty of Law, in an effort to maintain the balance in students personality development so that they will become leading and enlightening Muslim Law graduates, the students are guided through some models and stages:

  • religious guidance through the orientation program on Basic Islamic Study (OSDI) and Islamic Religion Guidance (PAI);
  • guidance on motivation through a Motivation Day Program;
  • guidance in organizational and leadership ability through students affairs units;
  • improvement in foreign languages ability through Law English Club and Law Arabic Club;
  • development in careers through the Career Development Centre (CDC).
  • guidance for students through the Research Community, Debate Community, Moot Court Community, and Students Writer Community.

In following and finishing their studies, each student is guided by an academic lecturer consultant. Academic guidance is an assistance provided by the academic lecturer consultant for students in making decisions, conducting self-adaptation, solving problems dealing both with academic activities and Islamic matters, so that the students are able to attain optimal achievement in accordance with the students potential, and able to finish their study based on the students learning acceleration.
