Dear Students,

We proudly inform you that since 2008, Faculty of Law – University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) offered an excellent class called International Program for Law and Shariah (IPOLS) for the degree of Bachelor of of Law (LLB/SH). IPOLS was designed to produce alumni with high competence and strong competitiveness.

Besides, several scholarship schemes are available, either economic-based scholarship or achievement-based scholarship. For those having excellent achievement, they may purpose full scholarship (100%-scholarship). This kind of scholarship will allow you to complete your study in the Faculty of Law without any payment of tuition fee, as long as you can maintain your academic achievement during the study period.

As a leading program, the existence of the IPOLS with all facilities provided should be widely known by the public and it can be an interesting alternative for high school students who intend to study in the university level.

The main requirement for joining IPOLS is strong motivation. To succeed their study, the IPOLS students must have certain level of English proficiency. That’s why a minimum of 500 of TOEFL score is required. But don’t worry about it since we will make it easy for you. In case your TOEFL score is currently less than 500, you can still join the IPOLS as long as you agree to improve your English intensively in the first year. While studying laws in the first year, you have to join English Matriculation Program provided by the IPOLS Office. After completing this matriculation session, you will receive a Diploma 1 certificate. English will be used as the medium of instruction starting at the second year.

International Program for Law and Shariah (IPOLS) is unique program that provides diverse and broader career opportunities for students in the legal profession and related industries. In line with the vision and missions, IPOLS Graduates are well equipped both in Civil Law and Islamic Law as legal basis for analyzing legal issues, find ing solutions and proposing a better legal policies to decision maker at various levels. Moreover, Shariah Economic institutions are developing significantly nowadays in Indonesia and all over the world.  In accordance with that, the program will be ready in preparing graduates who are experts in both Civil Law and Shariah.

One of distinctive feature of the IPOLS that contribute its status as one of a leading program in law school in Indonesia is its bravery decision to use English as medium instruction in class and therefore the staffs and students are familiar with international language. This is one of a giant leap conducted by the Faculty of Law, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta because by having this program, the Faculty will lead students in preparing themselves to face the dynamic challenges of globalization.

Another uniqueness of the IPOLS lies in the existence of international collaboration with overseas universities where the lecturers and students have opportunities to enhance their international experience through various program such as International Joint-Seminars, joint research, staff exchange, students exchange, summer course etc. Having these backgrounds, IPOLS confidently offers legal scholars from repubtable universities and the students from reputable senior high schools to join the program and work hand in hand in pursuing their career.

In addition, the program also will complete students with various legal skills needed in the legal profession through innovative and creative method of teachings. In order to keep balance of students’ personality, the IPOLS also provides Weekly Islamic Meeting and Monthly Academic Meeting with competent lecturers as well as assistants.
